Dear John Henry,

WHY did you try to keep him?! It's because of Epstein YOU ended up spending MILLIONS of YOUR DOLLARS on deals that went absolutely nowhere - Renteria, Lugo, Matsuzaka (FIFTY ONE MILLION JUST TO TALK TO HIM AND WHAT DID IT GET THE TEAM?! MEDIOCRITY!), JOHN FUCKING LACKEY, to name a few off the top of my head. IT'S TIME FOR NEW BLOOD, DAMNIT.

Bitterly yours,
Me

Dear Chicago Cubs,

YOU WILL NOT WIN THE WORLD SERIES ANY TIME SOON. MAY YOU CONTINUE TO SUCK FOR ANOTHER ONE HUNDRED AND THREE YEARS.

Fuck you and your stupid goat,
Me

Also, I got a B+/A- on my Presidential Leadership midterm. \o/
Today is a lovely day celebrated by all Bay Staters (and Mainers, 'cause Maine belonged to us until 1820, and some habits are hard to break) known as Patriots' Day. On this day we commemorate the Battles of Lexington and Concord that began the American Revolution (although technically that was yesterday) and we do it with no school, an 11 AM home game at Fenway, and the world's oldest and most famous marathon, which is also the reason why today is Marathon Monday.

I can actually see parts of the route on Beacon Street from my room. Glee.

Ah, Boston, you know how to throw a party. <3

Hm...

Well, with no more baseball until spring training (the Red Sox have been eliminated, so far as I care the season is over), I'm at a loss (once again) as to what to watch in regards to sports. There's the Breeder's Cup this weekend; I'm still clinging to the minuscule hope that Zenyatta's connections will decide to run her in the Classic rather than the Distaff (excuse me, the Ladies' Classic *massive eye roll, makes disgusted noise*), but the likelihood of that is slim to none. And other than that, there's what, football? I love the Patriots, but it's still a sport I don't understand. Basketball? Snore. Hockey? I'm not that bloodthirsty.

Sigh.

Am suddenly popular with the kitties, if the jockeying for best snuggle spot among Jazz, Bounce, and Beep is anything to go by. My laptop doesn't generate that much heat, so I haven't the faintest idea of what is up.

Bored, can't find anything to keep my attention for longer than five minutes. No one to talk to at the moment, either. ([livejournal.com profile] barcelona_pho, where are you? We have modly duties to attend to!)

Right, time to find my book.

EDIT 7:19 PM: Billy got an A on his essay for his writing class! The highest in the class! THE ONLY ONE WITH THAT GRADE.

I am so fucking proud right now. Please excuse me, I need to spaz, do a happy dance, and flip off BLS.

...but this says a lot about my hopes for the Patriots this season.

Me: Who are we playing this weekend?
Dad: San Francisco, I think.
Me: We screwed?
Dad: Well, they've been struggling, too.
Me: So have the Dolphins.
Dad: ...Point.

So, so screwed this year.
So I'm waiting for the Sox game to come on at ten by watching the Cubs lose to the Dodgers while eating Edy's ice cream. (Cubbies, COME ON. You want that ring, WORK FOR IT. Don't get shown up by the Official Team of the Retirement Home of the Boston Red Sox.*) I hate it when the Sox play on the West Coast, it screws up my internal clock; the regular season lulls me into complacency with most games starting at seven.

Took Jazz to the vet today, she's already doing better, although I'm not looking forward to giving her her medicine. I ended up footing the bill ($426.02) and yeah, it hurt signing that check. (Mom looked smug, Dad laughed when we told him about it.) Adulthood sucks at times.

And since we were in the area, we got Chinese takeout from Chef Chang's (the route Mom took convinced me Brookline is just a less confusing and frustrating younger sibling of Cambridge with all its damn one-way streets) and zipped on home. Good food, but inevitably I am hungry again. Time to go make myself a bagel.

*All credit for this Dodgers' nickname goes to one of the great folks over at [livejournal.com profile] redsox. Can't quite remember who...
