Ask me my fannish Top Five [Whatevers]. Any top fives. Doesn't matter what, really! And I will answer them all in comments to this post.
If there is one person or more on your friends list who makes your world a better place just because they exist, and who you would not have met (in real life or not) without the Internet, then post this same sentence in your journal.
Bit bored today, so I thought I'd do a little something to alleviate that.

So, here's a little idea I had. It's not a meme I picked up anywhere, but I thought it'd be fun for me to do nonetheless.

I've got a lot of original characters banging around my head - some I've explicitly written about, like Nora and Sav and a few of the other Watchers 'verse guys, and some I've only mentioned in passing, like Aces and Cahill and my WoW-based characters. So, as a way to get to know my own characters better (especially the ones I haven't written much about yet), I'll list twenty or so them here and let you guys pick any three you want to know more about - I'll give you a brief rundown of their personalities, quirks, and background but feel free to ask specific questions about them.

1. Lailya Lunamortis (World of Warcraft)
1. Ashke Crowfeather (World of Warcraft)
3. Honora "Nora" McCormick (Watchers)
4. Savannah "Sav" Bishop (Watchers)
5. Daniel "Danny" McCormick (Watchers)
6. Mark McCormick (Watchers)
7. Vanessa "Nessa" McCormick (Watchers)
8. Charlie "Aces" Buchanan (Watchers)
9. Harrison Cahill (Watchers)
10. Robert E. Hatfield III (Watchers)
11. Rhakunvar (Watchers)
12. Yalora (Watchers)
13. Cynthia Bradford (Brindlewood)
14. Sophia Wyndham (Brindlewood)
15. Shae Valya (Schadenfreude)
16. Donovan Fisk (Schadenfreude)
17. Veronica "Roni" Fisk (Schadenfreude)
18. Lachesis a'Kleva (Schadenfreude)
19. The Schadenfreude (Schadenfreude) (Yes, I consider the ship itself a character in its own right.)
20. Freebie - if there's a character I haven't listed, but you know I have somewhere in my head (even the "retired" ones), ask!

Let's see how this goes, shall we?
Taking a short break from midterm-studying to stare at something other than campaign data/polarization of the electorate/political paradoxes/MAKE IT END OH GOD. *headdesk* Stupid multiple fifty-plus page readings.

So. Some randomness. Kinda.

First, a meme, shamelessly snagged from [ profile] foofighter0234.

i ship it // my thread

Have at it!

Today is Dad's birthday. Not heading home for spring break until Friday afternoon, so texted him this morning wishing him happy birthday and then went present shopping at the B&N after class. Managed to find a sweater I know he'll like in XXL - miraculous - and also a BU hat in size 7 7/8 which is even MORE miraculous because my daddy has a very large head and it is a biiiiiitch to find hats for him that will actually fit. And a book, got him a book. And then called home about half an hour ago to sing him happy birthday. Yay, Daddy!

Also got myself a book. The Shadow Queen by Anne Bishop. EEEEEEEE!!! Must not read all at once! Have to finish studying!

Oh, hey, would ya look at that, Manny's finally signed to a team. The Dodgers. Two years, $45 million and- wait. Didn't the Dodgers offer him that deal before? Twice?

Holy crap have you seen those pictures of Jacoby Ellsbury from spring training? OH. MY. GOD. He was adorable before but now OH. MY. GOD. My brain is still mush and my ovaries are still clanging madly and ohmyGooooooooood. Holy crap those arms. Oh. My. God.

Before I forget, happy birthday to [ profile] bookworm2007!

Other than that, not much is up. Been a really long day - lots of errands to run and stores to visit. On the bright side, I've now got a pair of heeled boots that I like and are really, really comfy.

Also, a meme stolen from [ profile] burnlikestars

Insert witty cut text here. )
Four posts in one day? What the Hell, self?

Well, I'm bored and the Sox are already losing (crapcrapcrap). Thought I'd entertain myself with a meme.

Snagged from both [ profile] josephinemarcus and [ profile] skew_whiff:
The problem with LJ: we all think we are so close, but really, we know nothing about each other. So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away. Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you!
When you see this, post in your own journal with your favorite quote from The Princess Bride. Preferably not "As you wish" or the Inigo Montoya speech.

"This is Buttercup's true love! If you heal him, he will stop Humperdinck's wedding."
"Wait, wait - I make him better, Humperdinck suffers?"
"Humiliations galore!"
"That is a noble cause! Give me the sixty-five. I'm on the job!"

-Inigo Montoya and Miracle Max
Meme snagged from [ profile] foofighter0234:

Name three fics you think I will never, ever, ever write. In return (and if inspired), I will attempt to write a snippet of one of them.

This should be ridiculously easy for you guys, since the only time I'm truly comfortable writing fanfic is for the Firebringer Trilogy (although if anyone asks for anything related to WoW, you'll be seeing my original characters for that). *eyeroll* However, I'll open this up to my original works, too, which I guess is mostly limited to my Watchers 'verse since that's the only one I talk (and write) about these days. (Watchers 'verse stuff can be found here and here.)

All right, while you guys come up with ways to make my brain break, I'm going to go work on that zombie story.

EDIT Fandoms/stuff I am more than passingly familiar with: The Firebringer Trilogy, World of Warcraft, Band of Brothers, Fables, Hellsing, The Lord of the Rings, Cowboy Bebop, Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicles, xxxHolic, Stargate: SG-1, Sailor Moon, The Great Escape, the Black Jewels Trilogy, Final Fantasy XII, Age of Fire series, Dune, Temeraire series, and whatever else you can think of within reason.
So, Jazz has been sick for the past few days with little sign of improvement. Mom's planning on taking her to Angell Memorial, although she hasn't quite said when. My poor kitty.

Have added City of Ember and Max Payne to my list of movies I really need to see (right after Appaloosa, which I've already flailed about). The first because it's post-apocalyptic steampunk (woohoo, steampunk!) and the second because frickin' hell, Mark Wahlberg. I told Billy about the trailer when I IM'd him last night and I'm pretty sure I sent him into keysmashes of joy. He's such a Mark Wahlberg fanboy.

And the Sox are off to Anaheim, with Lowell and Drew looking good on returning to the lineup. Beckett's got a strained oblique (I love baseball, but there are many times throughout the season where a move to the disabled list has caused me to roll my eyes and question my favorite players' masculinity), so he's been pushed back to pitching Game 3 instead of Game 1, and surprisingly Red Sox Nation hasn't gone into panic-mode yet.

Patriots Nation is another story.

And a meme snagged from [ profile] foofighter0234.

Have I done this one before? I think I might have done this one before. )
So yesterday I met up with [ profile] nefyr and it was awesome. We talked a lot, mostly about our troubles with college (definitely nice to have it affirmed that yeah, colleges can fuck anyone over and that high school counselors don't do anything to warn kids that things can go wrong) and World of Warcraft (which got me itching to play my warlock again and plot out a new build for her once WotLK goes live). Much love for Nefyr.

Been scribbling various story-stuff for most of the day. I've got a pseudo-encyclopedia going for my Watchers 'verse, if only because it helps me keep my facts straight and not contradict anything; I may post it later once I've polished it some more, hopefully it'll make that story I posted a bit ago more comprehensible. Also did a little world-building for my Brindlewood 'verse, too, which is nice because I haven't written anything concrete for it yet. It's morphed from high fantasy to a high fantasy-steampunk hybrid and the possibilities there are endless. I think it could work really well as a young adult book or series. We shall see.

And a meme I snagged from [ profile] foofighter0234, because I can and I'm bored. Mwahaha.

I really shouldn't watch historically inaccurate shows on TV Land just to make my Inner History Nerd froth. )

Oh, man, here's an image for you guys: Bam-Bam is eating potato chips. Silly kitty.
All right, now that I've had my freak out moment, I am calm and cool and collected - mostly; I'm chugging my Coca-Cola Vanilla Zero like mad right now and the caffeine's going to kick in soon.

So, because I am a wee bit bored, it's time for a meme.

Snagged from [ profile] foofighter0234. *waves*
Give me a fandom and I will tell you who I would:

1. bake cupcakes for:
2. trust with the keys to my car:
3. put thumbtacks on their chair:
4. have a crush on:
5. pack up and leave if they moved next door:
6. vote for President:
7. pick as my partner in a buddy movie:
8. pair up:
9. vote off the island and into the volcano:
10. wheedle into fixing my MP3 player:

Since I don't generally talk about my fandoms very much, here's a list of things I would/could confidently answer for:

The Firebringer Trilogy (well, duh, it's my One True Fandom), Band of Brothers, Fables, Hellsing, The Lord of the Rings, Cowboy Bebop, Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicles & xxxHolic (yes, I'm lumping them into fandom for the time being, shut up), Stargate: SG-1, Sailor Moon (ah, nostalgia), The Great Escape, the Black Jewels Trilogy, and whatever else you could come up with.
You Might a Fan If...

(Bold the ones that are true)

Cut for length. )
01. Grab the nearest book.
02. Open the book to page twenty-three.
03. Find the fifth sentence.
04. Post the text of the next five sentences in your journal along with these instructions:
--Don't dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the CLOSEST.
--Tag five other people to do the same.

"With little knowledge of the paths across, and untrustworthy local guides, the army found going down much harder than going up. The terrain turned out to be a lethal mixture of mud with treacherous ice underneath - the ground never truly thaws. The horses and elephants in particular found the going hard and sank down into the ground. The following morning saw a disaster - an early autumn snowstorm laid feet of snow on top of the treacherous ground. It proved impossible to move at all, and if this was the beginning of winter serious problems lay ahead."

Meme time!

Comment on this post and say YO BABY ! I WANT TO DO THAT INTEREST MEME ... or something like that. I will choose seven interests from your profile and you will explain what they mean and why you are interested in them.

Post this along with your answers in your own journal so that others can play along.

[ profile] dragon_mouse picked: classic rock, ferrets, Firefly, men in uniform, ranting and raving, Stephen King, and the Mummy

Cutting BECAUSE I CAN. )

And now I'm off, for I have books to read and I can smell the ribs my mother's making for dinner. *wanders off to find munchies*

*facedesk* I swear, the world is laughing at me.

At least I got my article for the Argo done. Ari can no longer bitch to me about it, muahaha!

And a meme from Fade. Because I can. )

OMG, I miss talking to you, too, [ profile] julia_dreamer! *flails about* Sometimes, in class, I need to bitch to someone or start ranting about something random, but there is nobody to talk to or everyone else is an idiot. *weeps* At least I have Anna in AP Govt and foreign policy, otherwise I would probably would have flipped out by now.

Am still disgruntled about having to miss the first six episodes of Band of Brothers this Saturday. Well, I'm disgruntled, my Inner History Nerd is homicidal. Maybe I'll order the DVDs from Amazon and get IHN to shut the Hell up.
So my cold turned into a damned sinus infection and now it's a fricking' chest cold. I can never win.

BC is out. First thing I do once I buy it, install it, and put in my authentication key is empty my quest log, sell nearly everything in my bank, and run screaming for Outland.

And now before I go curl up in coughing misery to do last-minute prep for Chinese declamation and study for a character quiz (just don't ask) is leave you with a meme, as snagged from [ profile] chrissy_sky.

Step 1 - Post a list of up to 20 books/movies/anime/TV shows/video games/etc. that you've had an obsessive fannish love of at some time in your life
Step 2 - Have your friends list guess your favorite character(s) from each item
Step 3 - Post in your own journal.

1. The Firebringer Trilogy
2. Kingdom Hearts (Two favorites here.)
3. Star Wars
4. Sailor Moon
5. Final Fantasy XII (Two again.)
6. Final Fantasy X
7. Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle
8. Stargate: SG-1 (Only one. Hehehe.)
9. Stargate: Atlantis (Two here.)
10. The Lord of the Rings (Three!)
11. The Black Jewels Trilogy (Two!)
12. Fushigi Yugi (One! My first manga love; there's probably only one or two people on the flist who know who it is.)
13. Warcraft III (Includes both Reign of Chaos and The Frozen Throne, but it's only one. :) )
14. Dragon Knights (This fandom's so obscure I'll be surprised if anyone gets it.)
15. Yu-Gi-Oh
16. Bleach (I don't think I've ever actually told anyone who my favorite here was...)
17. Cowboy Bebop (This is so obvious it isn't even funny.)
18. Gundam Wing (Another oh-so-obvious one for those who remember Sue!DT. *shudders* So ashamed of that era.)
19. Fables (Except that there is NO FANDOM. There's only five fics at the Pit! *cries* Such an awesome comic series...)
20. Legend of the Five Rings (Sure, they're books based off a card game, but I love them so much. Three favorites here, and if anyone is so geeky as to guess rightly, I will love you forever.)
What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Midland

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.

...Odd. But I can attribute this to the fact that my dad made sure I could speak proper English sans-Bostonian accent. These days I only slip into it after I've heard someone else use it, and then only rarely.

Blah. Need more Tylenol. Took two half an hour ago and my migraine's already back.

XP That was fun!

Anywhoot, summer reading is 2/5 done. Have read The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins (nineteenth century literature/mystery that I liked) and A Morbid Taste for Bones by Ellis Peters. Also going to read Othello by The Bard, All the Pretty Horses by Cormac McCarthy, and Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier (on recommendation from both [ profile] argentum_draco and [ profile] julia_dreamer). Is it just me, or is the summer reading list this year actually... interesting? Weird. (Should start up my reading for APUSH again, but meh. I'm not worried.)

Loves the FFX, loves it so much, yeeeesss. And after watching Die Hard: With a Vengeance a few days ago, a plot bunny took up residence in my head that dictated an AU FFX police-based rpg, of which I have been brainstorming with my partner-in-crime [ profile] predikit. I hugged the plot bunny upon its arrival. My muses immediately began plotting (pun intended) its death for distracting me from my original plotlines, but I can't work on one thing for too long without getting bored of it. So. I'm going to work on this little rpg idea (although truth be told, an actual fanfic might fit the bill better) until I'm good and ready to go back to my other stuff.

Hmm, have urge to do art. Unicorn art. *wanders off to find pencil and paper*

Name ten of life's simple pleasures that you like most, then pick ten people to do the same. Try to be original and creative and not to use things that someone else has already used.

3. A hot shower.
4. Being used as a convenient pillow by multiple cats.
5. Watching a Red Sox game and heckling the other team.
6. Engaging in rapid fire discussion/debate about either books or anime or politics.
7. Being able to finish one crazy-long homework assignment completely and correctly.
8. Spontaneous story inspiration.
9. Good-quality milk chocolate.
10. A caffiene buzz.

Taking the timed writing test for AP Composition tomorrow. Oh, God, that will mark the fourth day in a row I haven't been home before 4 or 5... Please let Friday be relatively normal for me, pleasepleaseplease.

Oh Great Cthulhu!

I have been an extremely assiduous devotee this year.

In May, I exposed [info]swingjuri to soul-rending horrors (250 points). In July, I made a burnt offering to the Dead Dreamer (100 points). In November, I prepared an ocean voyage to R'lyeh (200 points). In September, I recruited [info]sunracer as a new cultist (30 points). In January, I defiled the grave of that traitor, Lovecraft (90 points). In October, I fed [info]nefyr to a Shoggoth (250 points).

In short, I have been very good (920 points) and deserve to be promoted to High Priest.

Your humble and obedient servant,

Submit your own plea to Cthulhu!

Oh, I am GOOD.

Note to self: start reading Lovecraft again. It's good for the soul.
